Counter uses of the city: cultural consumption and gentrification

This article argues that ennobled urban spaces are places of consumption, in which contemporary processes gentrification promote a double movement: they make local cultural contents more flexible and, otherwise, rehabilitate certain contents, aiming at the re-traditionalization these consumption by insertion events as way legitimizing interventions based on supposedly common tradition.
